October 23, 2019 Reply Eddafred Shout out from Saskatoon! 😀 October 23, 2019 Reply Melun64 I live in Alberta. Things have got very tense here. Best way to describe ourselves is a more democratic Texas. There has been a minor western separatist movement that rears its head every so often when our province feels like it is left out from the east. I've seen so much talk of separatism in the past few weeks its starting to seem very serious. we have facebook groups that gained 20k people in the 24 hours since the election. Our current premier even was a member of the separatist party at one point in his early career. Lots of us younger voters do feel torn as to who to vote for because both parties seem to be a little to far to their respective sides and we have nobody in the middle to represent us. The next few years will be very hard on the west as we try and figure out a new identity or if the oil rich identity we currently hold will continue. I'd personally love to see a deep dive into the topic of separatism in western Canada because it feels like alot of voters in the province have half the facts about the positives and negatives of succession and they will not complete their own research into the topic. Maybe these new facebook news filters can help stop alot of the biased news that corrupts our news feeds. October 23, 2019 Reply DotADBX Canadian here. All oil flows through the west and to the west coast to china and the states I always find it surprising people like to negate mentioning Bc's role in Canadas oil industry and how policy that effects the oil industry effects bc as much as it does Alberta and saskatuewan. Any way the major shift away from the ndp is not surprising at all as the ndp basically threw their constituents under the bus when they decided to out right claim they will destroy all oil industry in canada across the board when 90% of their voters live in the west that depend dramatically on that industry doing well. October 23, 2019 Reply Dergonu These never end up in my recommended list, even though I literally watch every single damn show, am subbed and have all notifications on… Youtube, pls… October 23, 2019 Reply Adrian Smith no exemptions should be allowed, although I support getting rid of conscription altogether for everyone. October 23, 2019 Reply mbncd I'm not a KPop fan (I prefer KDrama shows) and as an Aussie lady in my 30's, conscription has never really been a thing I've had to worry about. Looking at the BTS situation, taking into account the cultural normality of service, and the huge service the group seems to be already providing to their country, I can see reasons they should serve and reasons they shouldn't. Overall though, unless war is expected in the next few years and they really need as many people trained as possible as soon as possible, I think service should be at least postponed if it can't be foregone altogether. BTS is a hot product right now. Even people who don't know anything about it at least know the name. That's pretty huge for Korea. I think it would be cultural suicide in the global market to sacrifice that if they don't need to. All bands who have been incredibly popular have faced quieter times and I don't think this is that time for BTS, but if they must be conscripted, I think it should be delayed until they aren't the huge icon they are right now, when popularity cycles and wanes and ebbs as it always eventually does. Korea should (IMHO) take advantage of BTS as a band while they can and think of them as a conscriptable bunch of of young men only as a last resort. I also asked my mother (who knows nothing about this stuff) and she suggests they get put in uniform and money earned from performances go towards war efforts if they need help. Sounds like a good idea to me! October 23, 2019 Reply Emily McD Canada's Green party matters! Trudeau lied about implementing "proportional representational" voting and instead continued the "first-past-the-post" system which makes is impossible for any left leaning voters to make a dent in the liberal and conservative wall. The Green party is well represented here in Victoria but I know many people who voted strategically just to prevent Andrew Scheer from becoming PM. Hey Phil, I'm Jenna, a long time fan on yours. I'm 17 and I live in Alberta, one of the provinces in which Trudeau and the Liberal Government received no seats. I think in the coming days you should talk about WEXIT, an idea among citizens of Alberta, Saskatchewan and even people living in BC and Manitoba as an outcome in this election, because the concept of Western Separatism and becoming a separate entity, or even a separate nation, is becoming more plausible in Canada because of the outcome of this election. As you may or may not know, Alberta's main economy is oil and gas, with that sector employing hundreds of thousands of people in my province. Along with that, Alberta is seen as one of the "bread-winner" provinces in Canada, offering a lot of money every year in equalization payments to fund provinces that aren't profiting as much in their main industries so that they can have infrastructure, roads, public transportation, health care, education, etc. Throughout Trudeau's first term as Prime Minister of my country, Alberta was going through a large recession in 2015, in which my mother, my father and my stepfather all lost their jobs yet they all worked in different aspects of oil and gas (with them respectably being a marketing consultant, an offshore electrician and a radio engineer). I was scared that, over time, we would need to move to a different province or even the States for my parents to get work, and I'm currently in my Grade 12 year, which is a year full of expense leading up to university, so I was scared I wouldn't be able to afford something as simple as university applications. During this time, instead of funding our province which accumulated over 100,000 unemployed people by 2017 alone purely because of layoffs and company bankruptcies, Trudeau's government turned a blind eye to us and wouldn't even help build the pipelines we so desperately needed so families could simply feed and clothe themselves. I have many friends that had to move to remote communities in Alberta or different provinces altogether in the middle of any given high school year because their parents' job situation was so dire that they needed to leave. So, in other words, Albertans felt alienated, and the same goes for residents of Saskatchewan. It was never a matter of us being cold-blooded, climate change-disbelieving Rednecks, it was always about the livelihood of the people living here, and I feel like that topic needs to be touched on more. I love your videos so much, and if you happen to see this for some reason and have any questions on the newfound WEXIT movement, feel free to email me. I'm pretty sure even my mother would have some things to say about WEXIT and the outcomes of this election, lol. Have a great night and thank you for always creating quality content on this platform. October 23, 2019 Reply Zero Gaming Basically if you are a money making machine for the country they will give you a pass but if you are a normal citizen then you are forced to do the 2 years military service what a great country October 23, 2019 Reply Blaine Hess Yeah Canada will start having a black face holiday so excited October 23, 2019 Reply Bunny lhm Thanks for touching on the Canadian election. In my riding (regional voting block for FPTP) we went from a historically Conservative-dominated area to Liberal. The general consensus from most people seems to be "I don't LOVE the Liberals-would prefer NDP- but THANK GOD the Conservatives didn't win. Scheer (Conservative leader) was widely viewed as 'Canada's Trump' by most non-right voters. We are hopeful that the Librals and NDP will work together to combat climate change and create more class equity. If someone tries to get out of service or reports come out that he acted shamefully the career of an artist is greatly damaged. As an example Yoo Seung-Jun was one of the most popular singers in korea. When time for enlistment came he became a US-citizen so he didn’t need to enlist. He is hated in Korea and banned from entering the country. His family as well i think. So you see it’s a sensitive topic for Koreans but alien to everyone not having mandatory military service. Thank you for being factual with you piece. A lot of media coverage is blatantly false to use shook as click bait October 23, 2019 Reply Justin Gathright ?!?! October 23, 2019 Reply Courtney I will never get tired of the "thanks for watching" roll credits bit hahaha October 23, 2019 Reply TalithePali As a left/center person living in rural Alberta, the last few elections have been exhausting and a little disheartening. Not because of the results, but because deep down, I realize my votes for left wing parties don't actually make a difference when my ridings are so overwhelmingly conservative (not to say that my vote doesn't matter. It always matters to vote). Neighbours that will never vote anything but conservative, no matter how awful whatever leader the party might have. Social media flooded with anti-Canada messages, separatist petitions, real end of the world kind of stuff. All because a party was elected that puts inclusiveness, social programs, and human rights ahead of the economy. There is so much "I'll take what I can get and f–k anyone else" sentimentality around here it's abhorrent. October 23, 2019 Reply corvus t. wilson Pro Tip: Don't use FB. October 23, 2019 Reply MrKJ444 if Bigbang and G Dragon served BTS will serve. Period October 23, 2019 Reply A.k. Iyer SK already manufactures much of their music. I don't see why they don't use conscription as a marketing tactic. Send them all at the same time and do a huge BTS returns tour with brand new music that references the bands experience in the military, patriotism, etc. People will wait with baited breath and when it hits they'll lap it up and nobody can say they avoided anything, as well as making a killing on sales and tours and boosting their popularity if anything. Facebook sucks. October 23, 2019 Reply Add a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
