A MILESTONE FOR A LOWCOUNTRY NON PROFIT AGENCY.. AND A NEW START FOR A LOWCOUNTRY FAMILY.. TOMORROW THEY WILL CUT THE RIBBON ON A BRAND NEW HOME FOR THE BERMUDEZ FAMILY. THEY PUT IN 400 HOURS OF WORK.. ALONGSIDE DOZENS OF OTHER HABITAT FOR HUMANITY VOLUNTEERS.. TO BRING THIE AFFORDABLE HOME TO LIFE. THIS IS THE 18TH HABITAT HOUSE IN THIS DEVELOPMENT.. AND THE 108TH BUILT SO FAR IN BEAUFORT AND JASPER COUNTY.. PATRICIA WIRTH/PRESIDENT/C EO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY “I THINK IMMEDIATELY OF THE FAMILIES, THE FAMILIES WHO’S LIVES HAVE BEEN CHANGED FOREVER. POVERTY IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE, THEY HAVE A SIMPLE DECENT PLACE TO LIVE, AND LIFE CHANGES WHEN THATS THE CASE. LIFE IS STABLE, THE KIDS DO BETTER IN SCHOOL, THE GROW UPS DO BETTER IN THEIR JOBS, LIFE JUST BECOMES BETTER ALL THE WAY AROUND.” THE 42 ACRES THIS HOME AND 35 OTHERS HAVE BEEN BUILT ON IN HILTON HEAD WAS ALL DONATED BY THE TOWN. THE BERMUDEZ FAMILY WILL BE PAYING THEIR OWN MORTGAGE, INTEREST FREE, THANKS TO HABITAT.
